Jim Wagner started “doodling” at an early age. By the time he was married, his “doodling” had progressed to pencil sketching people and scenery.
His wife encouraged him for years to try painting, but his answer was always “I can’t paint”. The Lord changed that in 1986, when He placed Jim at Seneca Army Depot with co-worker Pat Matriscino, a professional artist. Pat showed him that he could indeed paint. During lunch breaks Pat tutored him in acrylic painting. Through a Ladies Bible Study his wife connected with Linda Schooly, who owned an Arts and Crafts business. Linda provided Jim all the supplies he needed to get him started, at her cost.
In 1990, one of Jim's paintings took 1st place at the Palisades Art League Show in Savanna, IL. Jim soon began watching Bill Alexander and then Bob Ross and his “Joy of Painting” TV program. In September 2018, Jim became a Certified Bob Ross Landscape Instructor.
Jim and his wife Dianne live in Dothan, AL.
